At Prowein 2023, this superb Chilean wine from Vinedos Puertas caught my eye. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carmenère Petit Verdot, it is both subtle and complex on the palate, with a balance, freshness and fruitiness that are sure to stir the emotions.
Mature tannins add structure, and the finish is both powerful and elegant.
This Chilean wine illustrates the excellence of the Valle de Curicó and the rapid and fabulous improvement in the quality of Chilean wines over the last few years.
The management team at the estate are passionate and very welcoming, and it was a pleasure to meet you in person in Düsseldorf.
They also make many other very interesting wines to discover, all different but full of emotion and pleasure.
I rated this outstanding wine, Caballo Azul Reserva Especial Barricas 2020, 92 Points, so congratulations to all your Team in Vinedos Puertas, including your Winemaker!
