Notes from Alexandre Petit: I had the pleasure of tasting the 2020 vintage of Château Croix de Labrie (Nouveau Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Emilion) on the spot.
The owner, Axelle Courdurié, welcomed me and I was able to visit the vines, which are worked organically and biodynamic, and then we tasted different vintages in the winery.
I was surprised by the quality of the 2020 vintage compared with other 2020s that I had tasted during the same week at other Saint-Emilion Grand Cru winegrowers.
It’s a wine that has superb ageing potential and should be fabulous in 7 or 8 years’ time, but which already has enough character and fruit finesse to provide interesting emotions on tasting already now.
This is a very fine estate that I shall be following closely over the next few years, as I like their very respectful approach to terroir and people.
This wine has been selected for tasting at my new space dedicated to tasting the world’s best wines in Paris near the Eiffel Tower: Grand Cru Wine Tasting Paris.
Congratulations on your superb score of 95!
